Fishing Report 1/17/16

The cold weather has allowed us to expand our fishing area to 12 Mile Reef and Twin Island. We are still fishing at Twin Rocks and Gull Rock Reef, as well. At this time, no one is fishing Arnesen’s Reef because of the huge ice mounds.
Colors of choice this weekend have been white and whites with red, orange, gold or chartreuse. Tackle such as the small jigging wraps, smaller Buckshot Lures and a plain red hook with minnow have worked well. We’ve also heard reports of The Flying Ant working well in a few houses.
Electronics can be the key to success if fish are suspended or on the bottom. The afternoon bite has been better this week, rather than the morning bite.
Father/son fishing team Tom and Craig Dominise of Minneapolis had their limit by noon filling out both saugers and walleye. No slot fish were caught for duo, but all their keepers were between 14 and 18″. Dominise said the saugers were consistently the same size as the walleye. White and orange were the their favorite colors yesterday.
Cory Kohl and his fishing partner from Minneapolis kept approximately 11 eaters on Friday. Their colors of choice were white, white with red, a tear drop lure tipped in green and a green Fire Tiger lure.
