1/15/26 Fishing Report
Here’s our latest fishing report from Captain Joey Huerd on beautiful Lake of the Woods!
Our day houses are staged at all the major reefs surrounding Rocky Point, with the exception of Archie’s Reef. We’re fishing in 27 to 36 feet of water, and this week the fish are holding tight to the bottom. We’re seeing good amounts of fish being caught late mornings, with a little lull in the afternoon, and then picking back up in the late afternoon before dark.
There have been good numbers in 15″ to 17″ year class walleye and sauger, with a few nicer size perch and eelpout mixed in with daily limits. Lots of walleyes within the slot are also being caught while traveling higher in the water column and released throughout the day.
For tackle, smaller Coffin, Buckshot or Tingler spoons (1/4 oz. or less) with gold, red or orange are working well. Also, smaller tungsten bead jigs on dead sticks are getting the job done throughout the day. ~ Captain Joey
