1/11/16 Fishing Report

Our fishing area continues to expand as the temperatures drop and the ice thickens. The bite was effected by the extreme cold, but guests are still catching 12-15 keepers per house on the average. Pink has been the hot color, although a plain red hook has also worked well. Our houses are anywhere from 25-31 ft. of water. We are still using our light equipment, as we consider this early ice.
Lance Gabe’s group from Rochester, MN, caught a 21″ sauger along with 15 to 18″ walleyes in one of our sleeper houses.
The Tony Valentine group from Duluth, MN, was also successful in sleepers over the weekend. Using T-Glow jigs and orange buckshot lures they were able to limit on saugers on Saturday along with several nice walleye and a 29″ northern for that afternoon.
Augie Riebel of Waverly, MN, caught a 55″ sturgeon Sunday afternoon, checking off an item on his bucket list. Nice work, Augie!
Best of luck out there on beautiful Lake of the Woods!
