2/12/26 Fishing Report
Here’s our latest fishing report from Captain Steve Solheim on beautiful Lake of the Woods!
Since the January cold snap broke, it’s borderline ball cap weather out here! The ice is in great shape, with just enough snow to keep the snowmobiles and track rigs happy. We’re sitting on 36-42 inches of solid ice, and daytime highs have been creeping into the mid-30s.
With this February warmup, we’ve seen an increase of big fish ending up topside. Over the past week, I’ve seen numerous walleyes in the protective slot, plus a couple of healthy 28–29 inchers being caught.
For pike fanatics, it’s time to dust off the tip-ups and start stocking up on sucker minnows. I’ve personally seen a few pike in the 30–40 inch protective slot range caught around the Twin Islands area. The intel from our pike guides is that trophy northerns are already stacking up in our traditional spots. In my opinion, our pike guides are the best on the lake–their passion for the sport says it all.
God Bless,
Captain Steve
