2/20/26 Fishing Report
Here’s our latest fishing report from Captain Nick Dejno on beautiful Lake of the Woods!
Fishing lately has been a marathon, not a sprint — patience and persistence have been key. We’ve been finding fish set up in 25’ to 31’ of water out in the mud. They’re not always aggressive, so staying on your cadence and keeping your bait in the strike zone has been important. During a slower bite, fish often respond to consistency. If you’re constantly switching between aggressive snaps, long pauses, big lifts, and tiny shakes, it can work against you. A steady, repeatable motion helps fish track your bait and commit. Most of our bites have been coming 2-4 inches off the bottom, but don’t be afraid to work it a little higher — we’ve picked off a few nice ones as high as 6 inches up. Bright neon colors have definitely been the ticket, especially glow and high-vis patterns that stand out in the murky water.
Good luck! ~ Captain Nick
