2/27/26 Fishing Report
Here’s our latest fishing report from Captain Joey on beautiful Lake of the Woods!
It’s been another incredible hard water season on Lake of the Woods. Ice thickness is very good this year and we currently have 33-48″ of ice in the areas we are fishing. We are diligently moving our day houses around in depths of 34′ and shallows around 23′ and working hard to stay on fish. Good amounts of walleye, sauger and perch are still being caught with a few northern pike and burbot mixed in bags.
We’ve been seeing both dead sticks and jigging working throughout the day, but the fish haven’t followed a specific pattern or time of day for now. In general, the fish are holding very tight to the bottom this time of year.
Smaller jigs like glow moon jigs or tungsten teardrop jigs are producing. Also, Dirty Bomb lures and spoons 1/16 oz, 1/18 oz and 1/4 oz that tend to mimic a bug are working in white, brown, yellow, red or orange with metallic backside. Spoons with flutter blades are also doing the trick.
As we roll into March, we’ll shift gears to northern pike, targeting our annual pike waters in 8–16’ depths and we’re anticipating another great season on them as well.
