12/12/22 Fishing Report and Ice Update

Here’s your latest fishing report and ice update from Captain Tim “Wingnut” Hill on beautiful Lake of the Woods.
Our team has done several miles of checking ice and hard labor getting a trail through the rough ice. We are fishing in areas with 12″+ of ice. We’re spread out in 21-27ft. of water. The bite has been a mid-morning run until about 4pm. In the last few days, we’re seeing mostly saugers with occasional walleye and perch — a few walleye over 20″ and one 28.5″ released. Glow spoons have been working well, but the dead stick (set line) is also producing. Just a note that while we are fishing only safe ice in our areas, our team has also found 4″ ice only a few miles from our houses. If you’re not fishing with an outfitter, make sure to check the ice and be safe out there.
There’s still time to book your ice fishing adventure at Rocky Point! Call 800-535-7585 to reserve and don’t forget to ask about our Midweek Ice Fishing Special.
