Fishing Report 1/31/20

Here’s your latest fishing report from Captain Tim “Wingnut” Hill on Lake of the Woods.
Ice conditions are excellent on Lake of the Woods. We are fishing on 26 inches of ice in most areas. We have houses on 12 different reefs and around Gull Rock. We are spread out for ten miles so we don’t put too much pressure on the fish, which helps keep us catching and not burning out an area. With the stable weather, the bite is getting better. Jigging glow lures is the best way to get them excited. On your second line, the dead stick/bobber with plain colored hook seems to be working well. Some bigger walleye are showing up, too. In last few days we’ve seen several 26 to 29 inch hawg walleyes caught and released. Some of these walleyes were suspended up to 12 feet off bottom, so a flasher is key to see these fish. We’re fishing 27 to 33 feet in most of our houses. Best of luck!
