Fishing Report 2/10/20

Here’s your latest fishing report from Captain Brett “Slim” Janicke on Lake of the Woods. The bite has been good, but the days when cold fronts/high pressure move through, it tends to be a little more spotty. Our reef depths are varying from right on the break line extending out to the mud ranging from 25-35 feet. Shoreline houses are finding luck in the 26-31 feet range. For colors, glow, glow, glow! Red, pink, green, white and the standard Lake of the Woods favorite, gold. Plain hooks or smaller jigs are working well on the deadstick. During this time of the year, electronics are very important. I’ve spent many visits in the houses with customers over the last couple of weeks and have seen countless “lookers”. A little more effort and a lot of hook changes are common in trying to get the stubborn ones to bite. Also, along with the time of year, watch for the suspended walleyes passing through; the fish are on the move and so are we! We are moving many houses daily to keep up with the changing conditions.
