7/22/16 Fishing Report

Here’s the latest fishing report from Captain Tim “Wingnut” Hill on Lake of the Woods. The fish are mostly in small pods now, moving daily as they are chasing lake shiners. Most reefs are holding fish near and around the structures. We’re using spinners with worms on the reefs. Trolling crank baits in the mud is also producing both walleye and sauger. The west side of Archie’s Reef has been productive pulling spinners. If the wind is down, a trolling motor is very helpful. Going 1.0 to 1.2 mph is best for pulling spinners. A few slot fish have been noted, but mostly the eating sizes are prevalent.
